OCTOBER 28, 2020: The biggest gym, spa and fitness centre ever to be built in Staffordshire opens its doors in Stoke-on-Trent this weekend.
The three-storey M Club is housed in a huge 70,000 sq ft expansion of the Waterworld leisure resort at Festival Park.
The centre has more than 300 pieces of cutting-edge equipment, and will open its doors for the first time at 8am on Saturday, October 31.
“I can confidently say that this gym boasts the biggest range of fitness equipment you’ll find in any other gym in the UK,” said M Club owner and founder Mo Chaudry.
“This is the biggest single project I have ever done – I wanted to create the best gym in Staffordshire. It’s lovely to be involved in a business I’m so passionate about, and which improves people’s lifestyles.”
He added: “There is something for everyone here, whether you’re a complete beginner, or have ambitions to follow in the footsteps of Staffordshire’s own Eddie Hall to become the next World’s Strongest Man.”
Much of the equipment in the new M Club has been provided by Pulse Fitness, including top-of-the-range treadmills, cross trainers with up to 40 resistance levels, upright and recumbent cycles, line steppers, rowers, and lateral trainers.
There are also a range of new ‘StepMills’ – a totally new exercise experience which incorporates the most advanced and powerful technology to enable the strengthening of every part of the body in one workout.
The huge fitness facility also features a functional training zone, a free weights area, and a 50-metre indoor running track.
The free weights zone has dumbbells ranging from 2.5kg all the way up to 70kg, 40 pieces of Plate Loaded equipment, and numerous powerlifting and Olympic-standard weight lifting racks.
Cardio consoles include touch screens with smartphone operating systems and virtual video training programmes, which place M Club sites at the very forefront of the industry.
“It means you can browse social media, listen to the radio, watch your favourite television programme, or even stream a movie during a workout,” Mo said.
“Alternatively, our members will be able to use the screens on most machines to access their own virtual personalised fitness plans.”
Elsewhere the spa area includes a huge swimming pool, plus sauna, steam room, plunge pool, hydrotherapy pool, and heated seating.
There are also two rooms for physiotherapy and sports massage, a large yoga studio, ladies-only gym area, spinning studio and another large studio area which will be used for fitness classes.
Former international athlete Clifton Bradeley, who visited the new site for a sneak preview, said: “It’s not very often that my breath is taken away, but just take a look at this – absolutely state-of-the-art. It’s incredible.”
Mo said: “We already have a fantastic base of members at M Club, but we hope that this is going to allow us to continue our growth.
“Times have been tough for everyone this year, so it is nice to be able to do something really positive like this for the people of Stoke-on-Trent.”
The opening of the new M Club comes just days after the official launch of a new 36-hole indoor Adventure Mini Golf attraction at Waterworld leisure resort.
The water park has also been expanded, and is now home to some of the largest and fastest water rides in the UK.
