JULY 10, 2020: Mo Chaudry today confirmed that his Waterworld leisure resort, and M Club health and fitness centres, would all be reopening on July 25 .
Waterworld plans to be welcoming visitors every day from 10am to 5pm, starting on July 25 until the end of the school summer holidays.
Mo said: “We have invested substantial resources to prepare Waterworld for the ‘new normal’. We have hand sanitising points strategically placed within the venue, and our designated team of ‘hygiene busters’ will be on hand, using anti-viral sprays on all surfaces including lockers.
“Our air handling system in Waterworld provides highly effective and hygienic airflow control, and our facility is a large-scale arena of 75,000 sq ft, which allows ample space for social distancing compared with smaller attractions.
“We are one of only a small number of water parks that have an extensive, chemically-treated outdoor pool and outdoor lounging areas.
“We will cap visitor numbers at 40% of our normal capacity to provide additional space for customers to relax in our tropical environment and continue to enjoy the extensive range of amazing rides and features that we have on offer.
“We have implemented a one-way system, new online booking procedures and stricter session controls.
“We have installed Perspex barriers at relevant points and provide PPE for all staff members who require it.
“We have employed an even larger team of cleaners and pool attendants, and will carry out pre-entry temperature checks for all staff and visitors to ensure that nobody with a fever enters the facility.”
He added: “We have worked tirelessly to introduce these key measures, and many more, to ensure that we can continue to offer truly memorable experiences at Waterworld without compromising the safety and wellbeing of our guests or staff.”
Debbie Evans, general manager of M Clubs in Hanley and Newcastle, said the clubs would return to the same standard opening hours which were in operation before lockdown.
She said: “Based on Government guidance we have carried out various risk assessments and will be implementing new procedures and processes.
“Our users will be welcomed back to a safe and user-friendly environment. We believe the new social distancing measures of one metre plus within our clubs will not be an issue.
“The clubs are large scale, well ventilated, and provide full-service facilities, unlike the budget chains. The Clubs incorporate 100,000 sq ft of lifestyle fitness, combining numerous activities including pools and spas.”
